Family Dining Room

This room is used regularly for small functions and family meals.

The sideboard is mahogany and dates back to 1790. This sideboard is the only piece of the collection that was made in Georgia. It was made in Athens.

The Table and Chairs are mahogany and date to 1800. Jim Williams, an antique dealer in Savannah, owned the chairs. He put them up for auction in Philadelphia to pay for his trials. If you have read the book or seen the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, this is the same Jim Williams. The chair seats are upholstered in leather.

There is a bell in the floor that the Governor can touch with his foot that will ring in the kitchen for service.

The painting of Andrew Jackson, our 7th President, was painted by Ralph Earle in 1812.
