Easter Egg Hunt
First Lady Mary Perdue hosted her 7th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
The beneficiary for funds raised by attendees of Easter Egg Hunt was the Atlanta Children’s Shelter. Families attending the hunt brought size 4 and 5 diapers, umbrellas or gift cards for $10 or less to Wal-Mart, Target, Publix or Kroger. These gifts were provided to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter to help the homeless children under the shelter’s care.
The 2009 Easter Egg Hunt featured a special appearance by Miffy, the iconic white bunny from Dick Bruna's childrens’ book classics, and the star of Georgia Public Broadcasting’s animated series, Miffy and Friends. Mercis Publishing bv, the brand’s worldwide licensor, donateed a number of Miffy books to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter.
Activities at the 7th Annual Easter Egg Hunt included the Easter Egg Roll, an Egg Hunt, Egg Decorating and an Easter Basket Cupcake Creation Station. Entertainment also consisted of a Jumpy Fun moonwalk, face painting, balloon animals, the opportunity to take a picture with the Easter Bunny, and a story station. Peachtree Publishers donated numerous books from the Little Rabbit series to stock the Story Station, and each family in attendance was able to take a Little Rabbit book home with them.
